What engine is in a HSV Clubsport? ›

The Clubsport easily reaches its rated top speed of 155 miles per hour (250 kilometers per hour). One run down the Autobahn sees the speedometer exceed that speed, hitting 165 mph (267 kph), but the GPS-based reading on the driver's phone never broke the 155-mph mark.

History. Holden and Tom Walkinshaw Racing – an operation owned by Scottish racing-car driver and entrepreneur Tom Walkinshaw – established Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) as a joint venture in 1987.

To assist with this, the ClubSport R8 LSA is fitted with a stacked plate engine oil cooler and a stand-alone water-to-air charge-air cooling system.

The power difference isn't super huge either, with the 0-62mph time being 1.1 seconds slower than the R. The new GTI Clubsport also provides the brand new styling, which looks absolutely immaculate and actually gives the Clubsport a meaner persona than the Golf R does.

This combo can take the Clubsport from 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds, three quarters of a second faster than the regular GTI. The top speed remains an irrelevant 155mph.

The LS3 is fitted to the ClubSport R8, GTS, Senator Signature, Maloo R8 and Grange. All vehicles, other than the Senator and the Grange can be identified by the '317' badge on the left of the bootlid, signifying the car's power output in kilowatts.

The Clubsport was powered by the LS2 engine a 6.0 L, 16-valve pushrod V8 producing 297 kW (404 PS; 398 hp) at 6000 rpm and 510 N⋅m (376 lb⋅ft) at and 4400 rpm. There was the choice of either a Six-speed manual or four-speed auto. Fuel consumption was 15.9 L/100 km.
