Yesterday, we had a few special visitors in each office to help us celebrate National Dog Day - our team's beloved pet dogs! Each dog took on a crucial role in the business, such as Barketing Manager, Accounts Retrievable, Hooman Resources, Pawject Manager, and Petwork Technician! At The PSA Group, we have always embraced bringing our furry friends into the office because we strongly believe that dogs have a remarkable ability to break down barriers, bring people together and improve team morale in the workplace. Each office even has their own 'Pet Walls' which include our team's favourite photos of their pets. We're so grateful for the role that pets play in our lives and our workplace, helping us stay balanced, energised, and connected. #NationalDogDay #MentalHealth #WorkplaceWellness #CompanyCulture

On Wednesday 24 April, Guide Dogs will be hosting events across Australia to celebrate International Guide Dog Day, and we will be welcoming all sorts of guests, including those with four legs! So, how should you prepare your premises for a person with low vision or blindness and their Guide Dog?Here are a few ideas:- Introduce yourself and ask the Guide Dog Handler if they need assistance. Donāt assume they need your help.- Ensure the Guide Dog Handler is seated comfortably where there is enough space for their Guide Dog to lie down, and not be in a thoroughfare or where people might trip over or injure it. Guide Dogs are trained to tuck under the Handlerās seat or table if necessary.- Ask the Handler if they would like a bowl of water for their Guide Dog.There are no specific requirements for a business to make special preparations for a Guide Dog on their premises, but a person who uses a Guide Dog does have the legal right to enter all public spaces. They can also travel on all types of public transport including taxis and rideshares.Learn the law and letās respect the access rights of all people with low vision or blindness and their Guide Dogs. Brigadoon Service Dogs

This week's #TrainingTuesday focuses on the appropriate behavior when encountering a dog wearing a service dog vest out in public. While your first instinct might be to greet and pet the dog, doing so can be distracting and potentially dangerous for the handler. Here are a few guidelines to follow when you come across a service dog team in public: 1. Direct your attention towards the person, not the dog. It is crucial for service dogs to remain focused on their job of assisting their handler. It's important to avoid distracting the dog while they are working. 2. Take care to provide both the handler and their dog with adequate room to pass in aisles or crowded spaces. Allow them to go about their business without being interrupted by questions about their dog or requests to pet them. Remember, they're people just like us wanting to go about their everyday activities. 3. Always ask permission before interacting with the dog. Approaching and engaging with a service dog without permission can distract the dog and potentially endanger the handler. It's also very important to teach children to remain calm around service dogs, to politely interact, and not to expect to be allowed to pet a service dog, even if they ask nicely. By adhering to proper etiquette, we not only show respect but also contribute to the well-being and effectiveness of service dogs for their handlers. Let's all play our part in supporting and respecting the valuable work they do!

Happy New Year everyone!I've see so many wonderful posts over Christmas and New Year. I do love seeing all the lovely celebrations.Families in matching PJs and Christmas jumpers. Amazing Christmas decorations and tables laid with incredible food. Sequins and bubbles everywhere. But Iāll be honest, I find this time of year tough. I have visions of using my down time well. Spending time studying, planning out my business year, as well as training goals for my dog.The reality is I find this time of year draining. I think Iām doing well each day to shower, get dressed and have a relaxing explore with Bodie! I swing from feeling flat, to a bit teary for no apparent reason. We barely got any Christmas decorations up. We didnāt paint the front room like I wanted to. Weāve lived here for over 7 years and itās still never been done š¤¦š»āļøIf you love this time of year - amazing!! If anyone else finds this time of year hard, know that Iām with you. I donāt have the answers.- But Iām trying to relax into it rather than fight it.- Iām trying to quieten the negative chatter in my mind.- Iām watching and appreciating Bodie just as he is on walks.- Iām trying to focus on the feeling of wind on my face than mentally listing all the things I should/could be doing this week.- Iām celebrating that daylight is get a little longer every day. I am also very excited about Pup Fest. I have already done so much more prep than I managed last year. Now to regain my momentum and make it incredible. What is PUP FEST?It's my annual online canine conference. This year's theme is: Empowering you & your sensitive & reactive dog.It runs from 26th to 28th January 2024.Join me, with 17 global dog experts for 3 days of incredible talks, workshops, and interviews. Speakers include Dr Laura Donaldson, Grisha Stewart, Dr Amber Batson, Andrew Hale and Surabhi Venkatesh. This dog festival is for you if your dog struggles in the modern world.- Is your dog worried by other dogs or people?- Do you describe them as reactive, nervous, or sensitive?- Do find yourself feeling stressed by your dog, or other peopleās reaction to them?To register completely free, click here https://lnkd.in/ekxXHcGr Feel free to share this event with anyone that you think will find it helpful.I hope 2024 is a great year for you and your human and furry families.
