Sensing vs. Intuition Test: Which Do You Lean Toward? (2024)

Sensing vs. Intuition Test: Which Do You Lean Toward? (1)Most tests will force you to choose between sensing and intuition, sometimes offering only one neutral option for those who can’t decide. However, it’s normal to feel that you have some of both preferences, and it’s only natural to act differently at different times and in different circ*mstances.

Just like being an ambivert, being somewhere in between sensing and intuition is not only normal but also very common. This, of course, presents a problem when trying to identify your four-letter personality type, but personality tests are only ways to estimate your personality type and aren’t always perfect.

The test below is designed to find your preference on a continuum line. Your preference is defined by where it lies on this line. Is it closer to sensing or intuition? And, of course, there is a gray area in between. Those who score in this area should read through relevant personality types descriptions and observe themselves to identify their preference for sensing or intuition.

For example, if you scored in the gray area, but you know that your other preferences are I, T, and J, you should be aware that you could be either INTJ or ISTJ. You need to use your own judgment to decide what feels more natural to you.

You need to answer all questions for the most reliable results.

0-55

Your preference is INTUITION. It means that you tend to:

  • Focus on the big picture rather than the details
  • Think about many things at once
  • Think about the future
  • Rely on your intuition rather than careful analysis
  • Focus on the possibilities rather than what is
  • Like to try new things
  • See connections between seemingly unrelated things

56-111

GRAY AREA. If you scored 0-83, you are closer to INTUITION, and if you scored 84 or more, you are closer to SENSING. However, your answers suggest that you use both preferences quite often.

Sensing vs. Intuition Test: Which Do You Lean Toward? (2)

If you are trying to identify your four-letter type, consider both options. For example, if you know that your other three preferences are E, T, and P, but you scored in between Sensing and Intuition, consider both options — ENTP and ESTP. Read through both profiles and see what feels more correct. Observe yourself over the course of a few weeks and see which preference you tend to use more.

112-168

Your preference is SENSING. It means that you tend to:

  • Focus on details
  • Like practical ideas rather than abstract concepts
  • Prefer tried-and-true methods
  • Want clear answers
  • Prefer well-defined tasks
  • Focus on what you are doing at the moment without worrying about the future
  • Need to have a clear plan
