What does eUpgrade clearance window mean? ›

This means that your eUpgrade will only be confirmed prior to your flight if eUpgrade space becomes available and you're within the eUpgrade clearance window for your status, fare, and routing. If you can't confirm an upgrade prior to departure, you'll be waitlisted for an upgrade at the gate.

Share your eUpgrades. Share the love! As an Aeroplan Elite Status Member, you can also use your eUpgrade credits to request an upgrade for your travel companions. If your companion is travelling on the same reservation as you, you can request an upgrade in the same way as you normally would.

eUpgrade eligibility

eUpgrade requests are valid on eligible flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Express, and Air Canada Rouge which offer a Business Class, Premium Economy or Premium Rouge cabin, when a ticket is issued in an eligible fare option and booking class.

- Simplified Expiry: eUpgrade credits earned as part of your status benefits will be valid for 12 months from the date they are issued.

You can request an eUpgrade anytime, and clearance will begin as soon as the window for your Aeroplan status opens.

Aeroplan members earn eUpgrade credits by buying Flight Passes, flying Air Canada, and gaining or maintaining Elite Status membership. The cost of an eUpgrade depends on your original flight class, your destination, the length of your trip, and your payment method.

Not all flights may be eligible for an upgrade. Eligible flights and tickets are determined by Air Canada at its sole discretion and depend on a variety of factors including cabin class and seat class availability. Also, unless otherwise stated, upgrade offers can only be made up to 48 hours before departure.

You can use eUpgrades to upgrade the seats of one other companion on a flight that you're on. If your companion is on the same flight but on a different reservation, you won't be able to complete your upgrade request until you're at the airport on the day of departure.

Residual value of a eCredit may only be used by the original eCredit owner. Redemption/Transferability: This eCredit is non-transferable unless assigned to someone traveling with the original eCredit owner on the same reservation at the time the eCredit is being redeemed.

Well, it all depends on the airline and the route, but on average, you can expect to pay around 1.5-3 times more for premium economy. For example, if an economy class ticket costs $500, a premium economy ticket for the same flight could cost anywhere from $750 to $1000.

Can you pay for an upgrade on a flight? ›

If the seat is available, the passenger pays for the upgrade on the flight." So while you shouldn't expect a free upgrade on a flight, you can still ask for upgrades from booking till boarding — and you may be able to pay your way to a much more comfortable seat.

Eligible cardholders who also reach Aeroplan Elite Status will be able to roll over up to a maximum of 50 eUpgrade Credits.

No need to be a frequent traveller to reach Aeroplan Elite Status. With Everyday Status Qualification (EDQ), you can enjoy the benefits of Elite Status just by doing what you do every day. If you earn 100,000 EDQ within a calendar year, you will achieve Aeroplan 25K Status.

By earning at least 10,000 Aeroplan points on an eligible Aeroplan co-branded credit card between September 1 and October 31, 2023, you can extend your 2023 status through to the end of 2024.

Premium Economy (Flexible) fares are similar to Economy (Latitude) fares in that they're refundable and aren't subject to an eUpgrade clearance window. If, for some reason, it costs less in cash or points to book Premium Economy (Flexible) over Economy (Latitude), then be sure to choose your fare accordingly.

Aeroplan members who book an Economy (Latitude) flight will receive 125% Aeroplan points and status qualifying miles. Passengers who are booked on this fare class will also receive priority check-in, priority baggage, and priority boarding as a perk.

If you are the Primary Cardholder of an eligible Aeroplan premium credit card**, we will automatically roll over your eligible Status Qualifying Miles and eUpgrade Credits to 2024.
