The Ratanang Collaboration, in the Bushbuck Ridge bioregion, in South Africa is one of the projects that Project Biome committed to supporting a little over a year ago. This initiative serves to address key issues, including: pollution and deterioration of the river systems, food and security and household, resilience, waste management, and the alien species. The results have been mind blowing! Through active collaboration with Avocado Vision and the Social Employment Fund in South Africa- this project has created 50 jobs for two years that are focused on farming, alien clearing, biochar, river cleanup, and ecosystem restoration & socioeconomic development. One of the more urgent things this project is in need of is transportation. Several employees walk over four hours a day to get to and from work. If youโd like to become involved with or support this project in any way โ please reach out. #weareprojectbiome #soil #regeneration #collaboration

Meanwhile in Uganda ๐บ๐ฌ:๐ฟ 95% of our 400 hectares of degraded land are now home to vibrant polyculture and native bamboo. Fresh shoots and new culms are sprouting, a testament to the power of nature.๐ง We've found water! Our drilling is complete, and we're actively developing an irrigation system. Plus, we're ensuring free community access to clean water.โ๏ธ Our transition to solar energy is underway, putting us on the path to 100% clean energy. Again, we're ensuring free community access to this sustainable power source.๐พ Our "Food Garden" concept, an integral part of our biodiversity management plan, is in pilot mode. It's aimed at providing fresh, nutritious food to our dedicated labourers and local communities.๐ณ Our next task is fencing to protect against the community's wandering goats.๐ With these milestones, we're not just restoring land but creating new job opportunities for community members.I couldn't be prouder of the incredible work our team is doing with the 1MTN land restoration, biodiversity enrichment, and community empowerment project. Did you knowโฆ In just 6 years, Tanzanian farmers have brought back life in 18 million trees with #Treecovery across Central Tanzania! ๐ณ We work together with LEAD Foundation Tanzania and local farmers to transform bushes and sprouts into thriving, full-grown #trees that will have a lasting impact on the environment. There are millions of living tree stumps with the potential to re-grow into trees, if they are given the chance. So why plant more trees, if we can simply bring them back with Treecovery?Weโve made great progress, but thereโs still more work to be done. Want to dig in with us and support large-scale #regreening projects in Tanzania? Look into the possibilities of partnering with us via: https://lnkd.in/eiSzPeTR

๐ฑ Exciting News from the ELCAP Project in Tanzania! ๐I am thrilled to share the incredible developments that unfolded during Strรธmme Foundation's recent project review in Singida, Tanzania. We had the honour of engaging with key officials from Tanzania's President's Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG), who enthusiastically committed to extending the reach of our climate-smart technologies from the Norad funded Enhanced Livelihoods through Commercial Agricultural Production (ELCAP) project districts. We have partnered with SEMA, Norges Geotekniske Institutt and NMBU to promote the production of biochar, the creation of wood vinegar for natural pest control, and the implementation of climate-smart agricultural practices in Singida, Tanzania.๐พ The ELCAP project champions food security and improves the resilience of smallholder farmers by promoting environmental sustainability and scaling production of essential crops such as maize, sunflower, sorghum, and pigeon peas. Smallholder farmers have been able to maximise their revenue through value-addition activities. This collaboration marks a significant step towards fostering resilience in agriculture, addressing climate challenges, and promoting food security. Together, we are making strides towards a more sustainable and resilient future for agriculture in Tanzania and beyond.Let's continue to work hand in hand, sharing knowledge and expertise, as we navigate the path towards a greener and more prosperous agricultural landscape. #strรธmmefoundation #ELCAPProject #SustainableAgriculture #ClimateSmartTechnologies #FoodSecurity ๐ฑ๐พ๐

The Green Ghana Day is here once again. As a concerned member of the Development Studies Students Association(DeSSA) of Valley View University, I am very happy to take part in this year's exercise with the theme; Our Forest, Our Health: Causing a Prospect Change in our Climate. Tree planting has a lot of benefits for man and the environment. Let me quickly share five of them that you might not be aware of with you.Job Creation:Tree planting initiatives create employment in nurseries, forestry management, and related sectors, fostering economic growth and reducing unemployment rates.Aesthetic Value: Green spaces enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of a country, making it more attractive for residents and investors alike, which can positively impact property values and real estate development.Natural Disaster Mitigation:Our Forests act as natural barriers against disasters like floods and landslides, reducing the economic losses associated with such events and the costs of reconstruction.Tourism and Recreation: Lush green landscapes attract tourists, generating income and employment opportunities in the tourism sector, ultimately boosting the economy.Timber and Non-timber Products: Sustainable tree harvesting can provide a renewable source of timber and non-timber forest products, contributing to industries such as construction, furniture, and pharmaceuticals.Join us tomorrow as we plant trees to protect our environments.Remember the saying, that when the last tree dies the last man also dies.#greenghanaday

The HydroCoop system from UrbanFarm Africa has arrived in Serbia. The successful testing and assembly of the HydroCoop, along with its active plant watering system powered by solar energy, mark a significant chenge in iskoriscenju vode u uzgajanju biljaka. Additionally, a solar battery powers a fan responsible for air circulation within the farm housing broilers or laying hens. Team of workers were impressed by the seamless integration of the entire plant and animal food production system, all within 9m2 space. The first Hydro Farms will be allocated to single mothers from socially vulnerable categories. This initiative aims to provide these women and their children with healthy food while also allowing them to sell the rest of produce food in local markets, thereby generating additional income for their families.#regenerativeagriculture #agritech #urbanfarmafrica #foodsecurity

๐ Another exciting update from our training day on the 12th of January. ๐ Turf and Timber Quip - Husqvarna Group came to Mkushi to ensure our employees were up to scratch on how to use the Tomcat wood chipper. ๐ฝ Weโre using the wood chipper to chip up the maize cobs that we buy from Small Holder Farmers, like, Namoi Nsofwa mentioned in our previous post https://shorturl.at/fLMN1.๐ฌ Chipping the maize cobs makes it easier for the microbes to break the cobs down. Adding maize cobs to our compost increases the carbon value which promotes fungal activity. Twala Farming is proudly funded by the European Union in Zambia and our implementing partner is the ENTERPRISE Zambia Challenge Fund. This project was made possible in partnership with Prospero Limited, a UK aid-funded organization supporting enterprise development in Zambia. #twalafarming #composting #EUDZambia #EUDelZambia #TeamEurope #enterprisezambiachallengefund #prosperolimited #tomcatwoodchipper#woodchipper
