American Express recently refreshed the personal gold card and it now includes a $7 monthly credit to Dunkin Donuts. The terms state the following:

Enrollment through American Express is required to receive this benefit. Only the Basic Card Member or Authorized Account Manager(s) on a U.S. Consumer American Express®Gold Card Account can enroll in the benefit in the Benefits section of theiramericanexpress.comonline account or by calling the number on the back of their Card. This benefit is not available to Classic Gold, Traditional Gold, or Senior Gold Card Members. Please note, enrollment may take up to 24 hours to take effect on your Card. Enrolled Basic Card Members can earn up to $7 in statement credits per month when the Card or Additional Cards on the enrolled Account are used to pay for eligible Dunkin’ purchases. However, each enrolled Card Account is only eligible for up to $7 in statement credits per month, for a total of up to $84 per calendar year in statement credits across all Cards on the account.

Valid at Dunkin’ locations in the U.S. that accept American Express®Cards. If American Express does not receive information that identifies the transaction as eligible for the benefit, the Basic Card Member will not receive the statement credit. For example, the transaction may not be eligible if it is not made directly with Dunkin’ (e.g., through a caterer or delivery service app) or if it is made at a Dunkin’ located within another establishment (e.g., at a pop up or inside a gas station). Eligible purchases do not include gift cards purchased online or any Dunkin’ branded products purchased at other retailers (including gift cards).

The terms state that gift cards purchases do not count online, but currently reloads do work. Feel free to share any other datapoints in the comments below. You also don’t need to spend it all in one purchase, multiple transactions work.

$38.75 per medium cup of hot coffee only using the Dunkin’ perk. I tried to churn the numbers on a medium latte but was too exhausted to go on.

Terms seem to indicate it is a monthly credit (not based on statement cycles)

I tried a reload on the app and website, both worked. I wanted to do a $7.50 charge, but both options only allow whole numbers for whatever reason.

Additional authorized gold cards also need to enroll but does anyone know if you can get $7+$7 for one month totaling $84 annually or $7 just once in a month across all cards totaling $84 annually?

Pay $325 for the privilege of jumping through the hoops for 7 bucks.
I just cannot understand some people. No wonder Amex and other issuers keep diluting their offerings. If people rejected such dilutions the issuers would not dare to reduce the benefits,

Uhhhh, they technically increased the benefits on the AMEX GOLD. You get $424 of dining credits for annual fee of $325…a net +$99.

Previously it was $240 dining credits for AF of $250… a net -$10.

Not defending AMEX….just sayin’.

You are absolutely correct with your point on some other issuers (and arguably some other ANEX cards).

What do you value your time at? The math doesn’t math to do all this hoop jumping for things I wasn’t going to buy anyway, even at minimum wage. Most credits you’ll need to spend more than the credit to ensure you get it all, making it even worse on the wallet.

Glad you aren’t defending them, because Amex fanboys have absolutely lost their minds. They think they’re beating the system; in reality they’re falling into Amex’s trap.

Not going out of my way to use a $7 credit and it won’t change the value I get from the card. The $100 Resy credit (which is easy to use and $50 every 6 months off restaurants I would go to anyway) more than covers the additional fee. However, if I happen to be near a Dunkin I will stop in to get coffee instead of heading to Starbucks like I usually do or just making a pot (or an expresso) at home.
